From the moment you step inside this welcoming eatery at 3364 Princess Anne Rd, you’re enveloped in an inviting atmosphere where warm hospitality meets authentic culinary artistry.
The menu at Peter Chang reads like a love letter to traditional Chinese fare, elevated by fresh ingredients and a masterful balance of spices. Diners rave about signature dishes like the Scallion Bubble Pancakes—crispy and flaky with an addictive savor that perfectly complements the bold Kung Pao Chicken and the melt-in-your-mouth Crispy Pork Belly. The Beef with Scallion & Onion Mongolian Beef delivers a rich, tender experience, while the Hot and Sour Soup provides a timeless classic that excites with just the right kick of tang and spice.
Peter Chang’s dim sum offerings are a nuanced journey through textures and flavors—from the delicate Steamed Pork Dumplings and fragrant Shrimp Dumplings to the indulgent Steamed Pork Buns and the irresistible Pan Fried Pork Dumplings. These dishes showcase incredible craftsmanship in every bite, an aspect that clearly resonates with both first-time visitors and longtime regulars.
Seafood lovers will find a treasure trove in dishes such as the rich and comforting Braised Seafood with Spicy Bean Sauce in Clay Pot and the subtle spice-laden Hot & Numb Flounder Fish with Tofu in Clay Pot. Each plate is a harmonious blend of fresh ingredients infused with layers of seasoning that tease the palate and invite you to savor every morsel.
Beyond its impressive menu, Peter Chang is known for its fast and attentive service, ensuring your meal is served piping hot—often on warmers to maintain ideal temperatures. This thoughtful detail enhances the entire dining experience, making every dish shine at its very best. As one customer, Laura’s Desk, beautifully captured, the flavors are truly spectacular and the ambiance comfortable, reminiscent of esteemed places like The Kowloon.
One of the most compelling parts of dining at Peter Chang is the sense of authenticity combined with accommodating service. Guests repeatedly highlight the staff’s warm attention and willingness to customize dishes — such as the popular suggestion to add extra broccoli to the spicy Schezwan chicken, loved by longtime patron Jennifer F. Such customer care turns a meal into a personal and memorable celebration of Chinese cuisine.
For those who hold a discerning palate, like Marilyn Wong, a California native with deep roots in Chinese culinary traditions, Peter Chang delivers beyond expectations on the East Coast: robust flavors, impeccable portions, and house-made sauces that never fail to impress. It’s not just a meal—it’s a culinary journey that connects you to the heart and soul of Chinese cooking.
Whether you’re craving the comforting warmth of Hot & Sour Soup, the indulgent richness of Braised Pork Belly, or the fresh, lively burst of Dim Sum snacks, Peter Chang in Virginia Beach promises a feast that delights your senses and leaves you eager for your next visit.
Spectacular flavor. Hot dishes served on warmers. Fast service. Cocktails. Reminded me of The Kowloon, right down to the upholstery.
Love, love, love this place, been coming for years!!! All time Favs are the Flounder cabbage soup and the pan seared pork dumpling. NEW favorite is schezwan chicken I'll be sdking for extra broccoli next time. Also the staff is amazing and so accommodating
I’m extremely picky with Chinese food as I’m Chinese from California! This is some of the best tasting and well made Chinese food I’ve had in the East Coast! The tofu skin dishes are amazing! Great flavor and great portions! Visiting friends and I told them how picky I am with Chinese food and they said I would not be disappointed and they were right! The hot sauce is made in house and I knew instantly when I tasted it. Super tasty! Service was great! Our server was very attentive and made sure we knew what we were ordering. I would highly recommend!
